10 Best Games we can't forget playing

Today we will review the best video games from 2000-2009 era. So get ready to go back in time enjoy some popular retro games. Let's start our countdown.

10. Mario (Super Mario Galaxy)

Mario is still one of the best classic game series ever created. Many versions came mostly on Nintendo but its popularity caused us to bring it in this list. Popular titles could be played with the help of emulator and even some clones were made by developers.
Choosing one particular game from Mario series is difficult yet I will choose Super Mario Galaxy for its next gen approach.  It was released in 2007. The game was situated in space and Mario had to collect 121 power stars to free Princess Peach from Bowser.
Super Mario Galaxy was one of most selling game worldwide. The game was praised for its game mechanics, graphics, sounds and settings. Its sequel was released in 2010 as Super Mario Galaxy 2.

9. Prince of Persia (POP)

Prince of Persia is one of best remembered series for its amazing story line(Persian Mythology) as well as amazing visual effects. Prince of Persia consists of 10 parts from 1989 to 2010. We are considering "Prince of Persia: The Sands of time" for our list. It is an action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft for Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Windows. The story revolves around a prince whose aim is to kill monsters and collect sand in its dagger. The prince gained health by taking a sip of water. It sales were initially poor due to coinciding with "Beyond Good and Evil"(Another game from Ubisoft) but later it caught momentum selling 14 million copies worldwide.

8. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare(2007)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is a first person shooter game published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward. It is based on the fictional civil war in Russia due to a ultranationalist movement. The protagonist gets the chance to play 6 different characters. Modern warfare is often used in Esports competitions. The game received "universal acclaim" due to its fierce single player mode. The game was best selling game of the year.Its success caused Activision to bring more sequels -Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.
Coincidently its modern reboot titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare(2019) has also become the most selling game of the year.

7.  Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is another game from Ubisoft inspired from Prince of Persia. It is based on the ancient era depicting the battles between Assassin's and Templars. Assassin's Creed series took its inspiration from novel Alamut. The game suffered due to a piracy bug which resulted in lower sales than expected. Ubisoft sued disc manufacturer Optical Experts Manufacturing believing the company to be the source of the leak.
The game has been set in open world and since its success many sequels have came in existence.

6. Mortal Kombat: Deception

Mortal Kombat: Deception is a fighting game released under the Modern Kombat series in 2004. It was the first fighting game to have an online mode. The game was praised for its new features and fights. Even some minigames were included. However the new characters were not considered that striking. A total of 26 characters appear in the game- including 9 new characters. Main characters include Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Shujinko and Onaga.

5. NFS Most Wanted (2005)

NFS Most Wanted is a open world racing game taking place in the fictional city of Rockport. There are quick race, challenge series and multiplayer mode options in the game. New cars can be unlocked according to the player's game progress. There was also a Police pursuit taking the game excitement to next level. The police uses tools such as spikes, roadblocks and helicopters to stop the players. New cars, locations, better graphics and new events took the game to next heights. It is the best title in the NFS series selling 16 million copies worldwide.

4. DOTA

Defence of the Ancients is a mod for the game "Warcraft 3" in the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena(MOBA) category. Some people consider that DOTA is the first MOBA game although it was "Aeon of Strife". It was DOTA which popularised this category leading path for others to succeed. League of Legends and DOTA 2 are examples of rise of this genre. DOTA do have many shortcomings but its concept forced us to pick it in this list. Nowadays DOTA 2 is a latest version removing and adding some shortcomings in the game.
DOTA will be always remembered by all of us.

3. IGI

IGI Game is a 1st person shooting game developed by Innerloop Studios and published by Eidos Interactive. It was the first game in IGI series later followed by IGI 2(2003). It is considered to be first shooting game in the PC Gaming Industry. People from 2000s era must have played this game.The game had mixed response from critics due to lack of features, a bad AI algorithm and other technical problems. It is a classic game and you must surely give it a try.

2. Halo 3

Halo 3 is a first person shooter game developed by Bungie for Xbox 360. The game announced in 2007 was heavily marketized($40 million) by Microsoft in order to increase Xbox sales. Halo has been one of the most popular series by Microsoft Studios. The game has immense graphics effects-motion blur, high dynamic range, depth of field to name a few. The game received a lot of love from its users. Critics also praised the game saying that the game justified its hype. Halo 3 earned $170 million in its 1st Day in US. Its success can be marked from the fact that it is the best selling game in Xbox 360. The game has sold about 15 million copies worldwide.

1. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

GTA San Andreas is open world action-adventure game published by Rockstar Games. The game biggest potential lies in the fact that a player can free roam anywhere. The story revolves around "CJ" an ex-gang member who returns to Los Santos and tries to reunite his gang. Many new things were added in this version of GTA like Gang wars, car modification, burglary, minigames within the game and multiplayer mode. The game can be customized using different mods available on the Web. According to an estimate, the game has sold 22 million copies till 2011. The game was released on PlayStation 2, Xbox, Mac OS X, Windows, iOS, Android, Fire 0S, Xbox 360 and Windows Phone. 
This one is my personal favourite as I used to play it a lot during my childhood. I have some fond memories with it.
